Silver lining for W'ford tech spin off

Wednesday, May 05 14:47:11

FeedHenry.ie, the cloud computing-based mobile apps start-up, today announced that it has spun out of Telecommunication Software and Systems Group (TSSG) at the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).

It has also taken on entrepreneur Cathal McGloin, who has a history of successfully bringing Irish technology companies to the world stage, as its new chief executive.

Mr McGloin was one of the executive team that oversaw the sale of Arantech to Tektronix in 2009. Before this, he was CEO of Performix which sold to Nice Systems in 2005.

He has now taken on hot Irish start-up FeedHenry, that recently came back from CTIA WIRELESS with an award for one of the best emerging technologies.

FeedHenry is a cloud-based solution for building and deploying cross-platform applications for mobile phones using a new technology that is unique to the market.

First up for the serial business-grower at FeedHenry is a funding round.

"FeedHenry is poised to become a huge presence in the area of mobile applications for enterprises and operators," said Cathal McGloin. "One of the tasks I've been brought on board to achieve, is to bring the company to the international market, turning FeedHenry into the next great technology success coming out of Ireland. One of the key assignments ahead of me is the upcoming funding round."

"From his recent successes at Arantech, Cathal McGloin will be using his impressive skill set to take yet another emerging Irish company, with a compelling technology, to the world stage," said Barry Downes, president and founder, FeedHenry.

FeedHenry's technology can be used cross-platform, across iPhone, Android, Web and social media sites. Complex applications including location-based services, payment, billing and presence can be built once, deployed quickly and used to reach out to customers across a variety of locations and devices.
