Online savings bank RaboDirect, part of the Rabobank Group, has appointed Tim Bicknell as General Manager for Ireland.
Mr Bicknell will assume responsibility for the overall development and growth of RaboDirect in the Irish market.
He joins RaboDirect from Permanent TSB where he has held the positions of Head of Customer Relationship Management and Online Banking and Head of Personal Banking. Previously, he was Head of Communications and Online Channel Development at ESB. He holds an MBA from University College Dublin and a Degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Exeter.
Mr Bicknell succeeds Roel van Veggel who leaves to take up the post of Global Head, New Markets, Rabobank IDB based in Utrecht, Netherlands.
"I'm delighted to welcome Tim at what is an exciting time for RaboDirect in Ireland," says Gert Bouwman, Head of Rabobank International Direct Banking. "Tim brings a wealth of knowledge and online banking experience to his new position and will be an invaluable addition as we continue to grow our customer base by doing what we do best - providing savers with straight forward and accessible products."
Since entering the Irish market in 2005, RaboDirect has grown substantially and today has over 80,000 Irish customers. Last year it also became the title sponsor of the RaboDirect PRO12, rugby's premier professional club competition in Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.
