CPL Fuels Ireland, a subsidiary of CPL Industries, one of Europe's largest solid fuel suppliers to domestic households will create up to 20 jobs over the next 12 months.
The recruitment follows the company's announcement of expansion of its operations in Ireland.
It plans to construct a state of the art bagging and processing facility for solid fuels at Foynes Port, Co Limerick. The jobs will be split between the company's bagging facility at the Port, the head office in Dundalk and the CPL distribution and sales team.
CPL Fuels will use the site at Foynes Port to distribute its solid fuel products throughout Ireland. A planning application for the bagging and processing facility has been lodged with Limerick County Council.
Commenting, Niall McGuinness, Managing Director of CPL Fuels said: "As Ireland has one of the highest per capita spends on solid fuel in Western Europe, the move into the Irish market is a strategic one for CPL Industries in line with planned European expansion. We consider our investment in Foynes as a first step towards developing a significant market share on the island of Ireland. This week we saw the extension of the smoky coal ban which highlights that the Irish market is ready for more environmentally friendly solid fuels."
Welcoming the development as a vote of confidence in Foynes Port and the Shannon region, Martin Morrissey, Commercial Director of Foynes Port said: "We are delighted that CPL Industries has chosen to invest in Foynes, particularly given the level of competition faced by the port company from competing ports nationally. Today's announcement is a major boost for the region, and testimony to the attraction of the port's deep-water facilities. We are also delighted at the prospect of further significant investment and will work with CPL to assist in facilitating this."
