Three Ireland create 33 new jobs

Tuesday, September 04 12:51:40

Three Ireland, the mobile network and official National Broadband Scheme provider, today said it is creating 33 new jobs in an expansion programme.

It said it has already opened six new 3Stores this year so far and, over the next three months, a further four independently-owned stores will open around the country.

The latest 3Store to open is in Ballincollig, County Cork and independently owned by Crona Byrne, daughter of the legendary TV host Gay Byrne, and her partner Philip Carney.

Commenting on the opening, Crona Byrne, owner of the new 3Store in Ballincollig said: "Ballincollig is a great and prosperous town and is one of the fastest developing towns in the country. It's fantastic to have the backing and full support of a brand like Three to not only create jobs for the locality, but to bring more choice to the town. We are the first major mobile network to set up shop in the area and I very much look forward to welcoming the local people and inviting them to see our great value price plans."

Simon Jones, Head of Sales at Three, commented: "In challenging economic times Three continues to demonstrate its commitment and dedication to the Irish market. Three continues to back local independent retailers by providing access to the strength of Three's global brand and all the economies of scale that come from joining a major retail network."

Since launching in Ireland in 2005, Three, owned by Hutchison Whampoa, has invested over E5m in expanding its retail footprint, over E500,000 of which has been invested in these independently-owned stores.
