Aer Lingus this morning said that total flown passenger numbers, including Aer Lingus Regional operations, increased by 2.2pc to 1,116,000 in August 2012 compared to the same month last year.
Aer Lingus mainline's flown passenger load factor - an industry-wide measure of how well airlines fill their aircraft - in August 2012 increased by 1.6 points on August 2011 to 87.3pc.
Short haul flown load factor was 84.6pc, an increase of 1.2 points on August 2011, with capacity decreasing by 1.8pc. Long haul flown load factor was 93.2pc, an increase of 2.4 points on August 2011, with capacity increasing by 4.0pc on prior year.
Aer Lingus mainline's total flown passenger numbers in August 2012 were 1,009,000, a decrease of 0.4pc compared to August 2011. Short haul flown passengers in August 2012 were 906,000, a decrease of 1.2pc on August 2011, while long haul flown passengers in August 2012 were 103,000, an increase of 7.3pc on August 2011.
Aer Lingus Regional's total flown passenger numbers in August 2012 were 107,000, an increase of 35.4pc compared to August 2011.
