Services index rises 1.2pc in July

The seasonally adjusted monthly services value index increased by 1.2pc in July of this year when compared with June and there was an annual increase of 7.8pc, latest CSO figures show.

Wholesale and Retail Trade (+3.4pc), Business Services (+2.5pc), Accommodation and Food Service Activities (+1.2pc) and Information and Communication (+0.1pc) showed month on month increases in July 2012.

Transportation and Storage (-3.5pc), and Other Services (-2.2pc) showed month on month decreases.

Information and Communication (+16.3pc) Transportation and Storage (+8.0pc), Wholesale and Retail Trade (+8.0pc), Business Services (+3.1pc) and Other Services (+0.9pc) showed year on year increases in July 2012 when compared with July 2011. There was no change in Accommodation and Food Service Activities.
