eircom Group today announced the locations for Phase III of its fibre rollout plan across the country.
It said that this comes as part of its overall commitment to deliver fibre based broadband to one million premises over the next four years.
Phase III includes thirteen communities in eight counties across the country, passing an additional 125,000 homes and businesses. Work is expected to commence this winter with the aim to complete the construction phase by Easter 2013.
The communities include: Churchfield (Cork City); Waterford City; Kilkenny City; Sligo Town; Mullingar, (Co Westmeath); Tralee (Co. Kerry); Westport (Co Mayo); Crown Alley, Dolphin's Barn, Nutley and Beggars Bush, Coolock (Dublin City); Balbriggan, (Co Dublin).
Commenting on the announcement, Herb Hribar, CEO eircom Group, said "eircom is actively working on phase three of our planned network investment. The first phase is now complete reaching 100,000 homes and we have already commenced work on Phase II locations. We will continue to build this network to ensure that as many premises as possible will be able to avail of the new services provided by various operators when the network is launched."
