Irish firm first with iPhone5 accessory

Wednesday, September 26 16:30:11

An Irish firm has become among the first to produce an accessory for the massively popular iPhone 5 ahead of its Irish release.

The first Irish made product available for the iPhone 5 is CarveOn's wooden backs.

Similar to CarveOn's range for the iPhone 4/4S, these wooden covers are made using real wood from the apple tree and can be custom engraved with anything from company logos to text to hand drawn artwork - and everything in-between.

The product uses an advanced adhesive that firmly holds it in place but can be removed without leaving any residue on the phone's surface. The second product, which will also be available this week, is the vegetable tanned leather version of the iPhone 5 back. These covers start from E19 and are currently retailed online through their website CarveOn.com and will be available in selected stores throughout Ireland very soon, the company said.

CarveOn are a relatively new Irish company making custom wood and leather products for Apple's iPhone and iPad ranges.

The company was established in 2011 by brothers Alan and Gary McCormack from Kildare with the aim of locally crafting beautiful products made from high quality natural resources.

CarveOn is a registered craft enterprise with the Craft Council of Ireland and is collaborating with a number of Irish artists and illustrators on their new 'Creative Series' for which the artists submit designs that are then engraved onto CarveOn's range of accessories.

The Creative Series gives emerging Irish artists a fresh new platform to showcase their work, it said.
