Govt launches Ireland Stat Website

How is Ireland doing? In response to that question, the Government today piloted Ireland Stat, a new whole-of-Government performance measurement website.

The Programme for Government committed to ensuring that the whole of Government would be more transparent, accountable and efficient and pledged to pin down accountability at every level of the public service.

Minister Hayes noted that, "Ireland Stat draws on existing publicly available measures, bringing them together into one website in a clear and logical way. Ireland Stat is an example of international best practice and as such is a very useful source of data. This website is a significant step forward - it brings real innovation to how we hold the Government to account. The Ireland Stat website delivers accountability directly to the public. We're starting small with a pilot, as we want to walk before we run, but we hope to roll the website out to cover all areas of Government next year."

Ireland Stat taps into the rich seams of data which are already collected across the public service but which up to now have been presented in a large number of different publications. This new website will sift this vast amount of existing data and show it in one place, in a coherent and understandable way.
