Taoiseach Enda Kenny is travelling to Berlin this morning for a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The meeting is part of preparations for the Irish presidency of the European Union, which starts in January. Mr Kenny and Ms Merkel will also be discussing details of two other European summits which are to take place before the end of the year.
The first of these, which takes place later this month, is a special summit on the EU's multi-annual budget, which is up for renewal. The eurozone crisis will be top priority at the summit in December, where it hoped that progress on a European Bank Supervisor can be made.
