Industry production surges in Dec

Production for Manufacturing Industries for December 2012 was 11.0pc higher than in November 2012, latest CSO figures show..

On an annual basis, production for December 2012 increased by 2.8pc when compared with December 2011.

The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for Manufacturing Industries for the quarter period October 2012 to December 2012 was 4.4pc lower than in the preceding quarter.

The "Modern" Sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed a monthly increase in production for December 2012 of 9.3pc.

There was a decrease of 1.3pc in the "Traditional" Sector.

There was a decrease of 3.1pc in the seasonally adjusted industrial turnover index for Manufacturing Industries in December 2012 when compared with November 2012. On an annual basis turnover decreased by 10.8pc when compared with December 2011.
