Newspaper sales in Ireland fell by 7pc over the second half of last year compared to the same period in 2011 according to RTE News. The falls were seen both across the Sunday and daily markets. The Audit Bureau of Circulation figures show that The Irish Independent is still the highest circulation daily newspaper despite a 5.5pc dip in sales to just under 124,000.
The Irish Times circulation fell by 8pc to 88,356 a day. The Sunday Independent is also still the biggest selling Sunday title despite seeing a 5.4pc drop in circulation to 237,000. The ABC figures also show that The Irish Examiner and Sunday Business Post each dropped below 40,000 sales a day. The Sunday World sales figures decreased by 13.6pc year-on-year.
