US-based global employee benefits provision company, Unum, is to create 40 high-tech jobs at its software centre of excellence in Carlow.
ICT Ireland, the IBEC group that represents the high-tech sector, today welcomed the announcement.
"Today's announcement by Unum is very encouraging. Not only is Ireland viewed as a world class location for technology companies, it is also seen as a premier location for the technology divisions of corporations from broader sectors, such as financial services. Against the backdrop of major measures to support the technology sector announced in the 2013 Action Plan for Jobs, continued strong growth of the Irish technology sector is expected. With over 14,400 jobs announced in the last 3 years, implementation of our positive policies to satisfy the skills demand should now be the focus," ICT Ireland Director Paul Sweetman said.
