Restaurant Irish debut sees 50 new jobs

Thursday, March 07 16:53:55

Ireland's first outlet of global fast-food chain Southern Fried Chicken was opened today on Dame Street, Dublin 2.

An Irish consortium lead by young entrepreneur Stephen O'Brien, 25, from Dublin, secured the Irish franchise for the Southern Fried Chicken brand. O'Brien announced plans to open three more stores over the next 12 months throughout the country, delivering a total of 50 new jobs for Ireland.

Southern Fried Chicken currently has over 600 stores across 30 countries. In contrast to many fast-food chains, all food is sourced locally and is prepared freshly on the premises.

Commenting on the opening, Stephen O'Brien said: "I am delighted to be the first to bring Southern Fried Chicken to Ireland and to create sustainable employment with a growing brand. I identified a niche in the Irish market for a high-end fast food restaurant that offers customers a choice when it comes to southern fried chicken meal options. Following its recent success in Russia, India and the UK, I am confident that Southern Fried Chicken will be a welcome addition to the Irish restaurant landscape."
