Hilco Capital, the new owners of HMV has today confirmed that it is to reopen four stores in Ireland over the next few weeks, creating 120 jobs.
Following successful negotiations with landlords and suppliers, the company is to open stores at three locations in Dublin at Henry Street, Liffey Valley and the Dundrum Centre; and at the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick.
HMV has also announced today that it will open 26 shop-in-shops within Xtra-vision stores around the country. Details of these locations will be announced next week. Xtra-vision is also owned by Hilco Capital.
The flagship HMV store at Henry Street will re-open on Friday 6th September with a leading Irish band helping with the ceremonies and playing in the store on that day. HMV will shortly launch a competition to enable customers to meet the headline Irish act.
Liffey Valley, Dundrum and Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick will be opening soon after.
Paul McGowan, Chief Executive of Hilco Capital, said, "We are thrilled to be able to bring HMV back to Ireland. The demand from consumers has been very strong since we acquired the business from the Receivers so it is gratifying to be able to get four stores up and running in such a short period of time. We will also be launching our new digital product in Ireland later in the year and have more exciting developments being announced in coming weeks."
The new HMV stores will create 120 jobs and recruitment for these positions has already been completed with staff undergoing pre-opening training. The final pieces of store building are now complete and the first new stock will start arriving next week.
