More than two thirds of small businesses in Ireland are using cloud software products, according to new research published by O2.
The survey of 350 Irish business owners and managers was conducted by Behaviour and Attitudes in August, and follows a similar survey commissioned by O2 18 months ago.
The survey found that the number of companies using any form of cloud computing including well-known cloud apps like Microsoft's Office 365, Dropbox and SurveyMonkey, has risen to 69pc up from 48pc 18 months ago. The research also found that while Irish SMEs are upping their use of cloud services, over a third (36pc) are still unclear about the benefits.
O2 commissioned the new research as part of an announcement that it has invested almost E3 million in developing and launching a cloud services platform and suite of digital solutions for businesses called O2 Digital Solutions.
The platform represents the most extensive rollout of cloud based services in the company's history and is formally launched today. O2 Digital Solutions includes: an ecommerce solution and website builder; security solutions for virus and spam protection; business class cloud storage; a video conferencing application; and mobile marketing and collaboration services.
Commenting Nicola Mortimer, Head of Business Products and Portfolio Management at O2, said: "With our new Digital Solutions for Business we are expanding our cloud portfolio bringing a new suite of marketing, productivity and security solutions to our business customers, all delivered as cloud based applications. These products have very clear benefits for businesses."
