Retail Excellence Ireland (REI), Ireland's largest retail industry body, has announced the Top50 stores in Ireland. The stores chosen are located in 14 counties throughout Ireland.
The Top50 stores are part of the Retail Excellence Ireland (REI) Awards in association with Barclaycard, which were established in 1997 to promote best practise standards in the Irish retail industry.
The awards, taking place on Saturday 2nd November 2013, focus on promoting and recognising standards of excellence and innovation in retail. The awards programme is the largest of its kind in Ireland.
As in previous years Dublin was host to the most Top50 stores with 22 stores located in the county. The Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords and Dundrum Town Centre are home to three Top50 stores each.
Cork is home to 6 Top50 stores, with Waterford and Galway home to 5 each. Kildare and Donegal have 2 Top50 stores each, while Meath, Carlow, Kerry, Wexford, Roscommon, Limerick, Mayo and Cavan are home to one Top50 store each.
As part of the Top50 selection process, all store entrants were visited by a 'Mystery Shopper' with a further visit from a qualified Store Assessor being made to the Top100 Stores.
The winning stores will be selected by the Board of REI based on the reports data gathered and a review of video recording evidence, photographic evidence and a financial submission.
David Fitzsimons, Chief Executive, Retail Excellence Ireland commented, "I want to commend all of the retailers who entered this year. The very high standard of service, customer engagement, display and levels of innovation in the retail industry made selecting this year's Top50 particularly difficult.
"High standards are particularly important given the very severe challenges currently facing Ireland's retail industry. It is clear from the quality of this year's entrants that the retail industry is playing its part in reviving our domestic economy".
This is the 16th year of the industry awards, which command over 600 entries annually.
