Banks operating in Ireland (i.e. both covered and non-covered banks) continue to reduce their level of borrowing from the ECB during August, latest Department of Finance data shows.
During the month total utilisation of ECB facilities by banks in Ireland declined marginally by c.-E0.3 billion (c.-1pc) to c.E43.3 billion - the lowest level since September 2008.
Meanwhile, deposit volumes remained stable in August 2013 at c.E152.6 billion, with deposits increasing by c.E0.5bn month-on-month; this was as a result of inflows from Corporates located outside of Ireland.
Drawings from the ECB by Covered Banks continued to decline during the month of August to stand at c.E33.47 billion.
