The number of overseas trips to Ireland by non-residents increased from 2.1 million in Quarter 3 2012 to 2.26 million trips in Quarter 3 2013, latest figures from the CSO show.
The number of nights spent in Ireland by overseas travellers increased by 8.7pc in Quarter 3 2013 compared with the same period of the previous year, up from 17.0 million to 18.5 million.
Total tourism and travel earnings from overseas travellers to Ireland increased by 15.7pc between Quarter 3 2012 and Quarter 3 2013, increasing from E1,296 million to E1,499 million.
In Quarter 3 2013, the number of trips made by Irish residents overseas increased by 1.5pc, from 2.003 million in Quarter 3 2012 to 2.033 million in Quarter 3 2013.
Total tourism and travel expenditure by Irish residents overseas decreased by 0.8pc, from E1,648 million in Quarter 3 2012 to E1,635 million in Quarter 3 2013.
