Irish-owned oil and gas prospector, Tullow Oil, today said it will plug and abandon the 31/3-4 wildcat exploration well on the Mantra prospect in the North Sea off Norway.
It said the Mantra well has encountered reservoir quality sands but all intervals are water wet. "The well, located 10 kilometers north of the Troll C platform in the North Sea, will now be logged before being plugged and abandoned" it said.
Mantra was the first exploration well in the Tullow operated 551 production license and was targeting the Upper Jurassic Sognefjord Formation reservoir as the main target, with additional prospectively in Paleocene Lista sands and Middle Jurassic Brent Group.
Tullow holds an 80pc working interest in the 551 production license and is partnered by Det Norske which holds 20pc interest.
