Gaelectric exec for NI renewables job

Thursday, January 30 16:51:41

Patrick McClughan, Commercial Manager for Gaelectric Developments, the renewable energy and energy storage group, has been elected Chairman of the Northern Ireland Renewables Industry Group (NIRIG).

The Northern Ireland Renewables Industry Group (NIRIG) is a joint collaboration between the Irish Wind Energy Association and RenewableUK. The Group represents the views of the renewable energy industry in Northern Ireland, providing a conduit for knowledge exchange, policy development support and consensus on best practice between stakeholders.

Patrick McClughan succeeds Outgoing Chairman Gary Connolly who was elected as founding Chairman of NIRIG in 2011. The new term of office is two years.

Commenting on his election as Chairman of NIRIG, Patrick McClughan said: "I am delighted to have been elected Chairman of NIRIG and look forward to this exciting and challenging new role. Last year saw the highest levels of wind energy penetration ever recorded in Northern Ireland, with our highest installed capacity of 530MW. This is a significant achievement. The renewable energy sector in Northern Ireland is generating jobs, investment and technical innovation at levels that will place Northern Ireland at the cutting edge of the energy sector on a global scale."
