KBC Bank Ireland has been awarded the Best New Debit Card Programme of the Year at the UK and Ireland Card and Payments Awards, which took place in London last night.
The Awards celebrate customer service, excellence and innovation in the UK and Irish card and payments industries and are independently judged. KBC Bank Ireland was recognised for introducing its MasterCard Debit card as part of the bank's new Current Account offering for personal customers in Ireland under the Bank of You campaign.
KBC's Current Account is the first new Current Account to launch in Ireland for over five years. Customers can use their KBC Debit card to pay for goods and services in store for free, get cashback, withdraw cash at an ATM and make online purchases.
The Debit Card and new Current Account from KBC are one of a number of new initiatives from the bank as it develops a full suite of personal banking products and services for Irish customers. In the past twelve months, KBC has also opened new retail banking hubs in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway, rolled out a mobile bank service, and introduced a full complement of life insurance products.
"KBC Bank is delighted to win the award for Best New Debit Card Programme of the Year. We've had a really positive response from customers to our Current Account and the benefits of free online and mobile banking, as well as free cashback and Debit Card transactions in store. Consumer banking behaviour is evolving, and KBC understands that, which is why we develop products and services such as our Debit Card which offer the features, flexibility and online facilities that customers expect from a modern retail bank. Our team has worked hard to develop our Current Account offering and this award is testament to KBC's ability to innovate and give customers the choice and value they're looking for in a changing marketplace," Dara Deering, Executive Director and Head of Retail Banking, KBC Bank Ireland.
