SouthWestern growth sees Irish/UK jobs

Monday, February 17 15:05:06

One of the country's leading outsourcing companies SouthWestern has announced major expansion plans for its UK operations that will see 200 jobs created there and 40 new jobs in Cork.

The company, which provides outsourced business process services to a wide range of clients in the food and drink, media, banking, telecommunications, retail and energy sectors, opened a London office in 2012.

SouthWestern was singled out last week by the UK Trade and Investment Department during a visit to Dublin by Trade Secretary Lord Livingston as an example of an innovative and highly skilled Irish business which is now expanding rapidly in the UK.

Last year it won a five year contract to deliver a new livestock database for the UK's Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The contract is for an electronic movement reporting system and accompanying database for sheep, goats, and deer in England.

UK Trade and Investment said that with exciting early contract wins already under its belt and building upon its market successes to date SouthWestern would employ up to 200 people within the next three years at its new operations centre.

SouthWestern CEO Jim Costello said he was delighted to announce the company's further expansion in the UK.

"UK Trade and Investment helped us take our first steps into the market in 2012 and, as we further develop SouthWestern as an international company headquartered in Cork. Our goal is to pursue the opportunities that come with trading with the UK and accelerate our company's growth both in Ireland and in Milton Keynes," he said.

"The UK expansion will lead to the creation of a further 40 jobs here in Cork so it's a win win situation. There are huge opportunities in the UK for Irish firms like SouthWestern and we are looking forward to winning more of that business," Mr Costello added.

South Western provides front and back office services in the areas of CRM, Finance and HR, Public Sector and Financial Services to leading public and private sector clients in Ireland, the UK and across Europe. The company is owned by Ion Equity.

The company employs 650 people at its headquarters in Clonakilty and at Lodz in Poland. It manages over 5 million customer calls per year and throughputs over E6 billion per year in transactions for its clients. It processes over 4 million documents, 111,000 pay slips and over 100,000 claims on an annualised basis.
