The Irish Exporters Association has welcomed the government's St Patrick's Day travel programmes which will see 27 of the 30 ministers travelling abroad to lead trade missions that will encourage trade and foreign investment.
"St Patrick's Day is an integral part of Ireland's international image. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has made significant progress in capitalising on the goodwill felt towards our national celebrations abroad to promote business opportunities for Ireland," said Simon McKeever, CEO of the Association.
"We, at the IEA, have been highlighting the importance of new and emerging markets and we particularly welcome that this year marks the first time that ministers will travel to Vietnam or Mexico, and the first time in four years that any will go to Russia," he said.
"It is very important for Irish businesses that are trying to break into far-flung markets to see that the Irish government is participating with them in promoting our products and in demonstrating, around the globe, that Ireland is open for trade and investment."
