A proposal by Bank of Ireland to outsource work from its Group Technology and Change (GTaC) division to Acccenture by June has raised concerns among the 200 employees who could be affected by the development.
Responding to today's announcement, the General Secretary of IBOA The Finance Union, Larry Broderick, said that the Union expects that the proposals - which involves major change - will be subject to full negotiation with the Union in line with out existing agreements with management.
"Since the Bank made the announcement to staff this morning, we have received a large volume of calls from members in the area seeking clarification about their future if the Bank's outsourcing proposal goes ahead.
"The existing change agreement with the Bank - which was endorsed again recently by Chief Executive, Richie Boucher - guarantees employees in GTaC the choice of three options: they can either transfer with the work to the new employer in line with the Transfer of Undertakings legislation; they can opt for redeployment within Bank of Ireland; or they can take voluntary parting - either redundancy or early retirement - in line with the severance terms already agreed between IBOA and the Bank."
"We note that in the announcement to staff today, the Bank indicated that it will engage fully with IBOA on this proposal. We are ready to engage in the expectation that the management will honour all existing agreement with the Union," said the IBOA leader.
