AL Regional launch new Shannon route

Monday, April 07 12:53:14

Aer Lingus Regional has this week launched a new route from Shannon from Bristol, as the airline continues to implement its growth plan to increase passenger numbers to two million by 2016.

The flight takes off at 11.10AM daily and marks the beginning of a new partnership between the two destinations that will see seven weekly flights operated.

Aer Lingus Regional aims to fly up to 20,000 passengers on the route in the first year of operation and 35,000 passengers in 2015. The airline's services at Shannon this summer also include expansions of routes to Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester today.

The addition of this route will enable Shannon passengers to have a direct route to a major business and tourist hub in the South West of England. Equally it will facilitate a potential tourist influx from that region to West of Ireland, which is timely this year with the launch of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Stobart Air's Chief Commercial Officer, Simon Fagan said that the addition of this new Bristol-Shannon route is a vital step in the growth plan of the airline.

"We are delighted to see the Shannon-Bristol route go into operation today. This new route has enormous potential in terms of boosting tourist activity and enhancing business connections between the West of Ireland and South West England."
