Between 50 and 60 jobs will go at publishing group, Landmark Media, which includes the Irish Examiner among its titles as part of a cost-cutting programme.
Staff were told of the redundancies at a meeting in the newspaper's Cork offices earlier today.
The jobs losses are to be shared equally between the Cork offices and the group's regional titles.
A total of 560 people are employed by the group, which acquired the newspapers as part of a restructuring at Thomas Crosbie Holdings last year.
Consultations with other members of staff are ongoing.
