Up-and-coming Irish film producer John Keville will represent Ireland at the Cannes Film Festival next month as part of European Film Promotion's Producer on the Move scheme.
Keville is a producer at Dublin-based production house SP Films, where he works alongside Conor Barry.
He has just finished shooting the feature film You're Ugly Too, which stars Aidan Gillen and George Pistereanu, and has two other films in post- production: Brand New-U, a co-production with the Netherlands, and the documentary Democrazy. John is currently at the financing stage with Brendan Muldowney's next feature Pilgrimage and Rebecca Daly's Good Favour.
Since 2000, European Film Promotion (EFP) has offered support and guidance to European producers during the Cannes International Film Festival. In a highly selective process, one producer per country is chosen by the respective EFP member to take part in the Producer on the Move initiative, which aims to assist European producers in finding partners for their upcoming projects; to strengthen industry networking opportunities; and to offer a platform where the producer's potential can be recognised.
Producer on the Move is supported by the MEDIA Programme (2007-2013) of the European Union and the participating EFP member organisations, who each made a careful selection of their national participants according to specific criteria.
Previous Irish Producers on the Move include Rebecca O'Flanagan (The Stag, My Brothers), Conor Barry (Savage, Love Eternal), Morgan Bushe (Colony, The Other Side of Sleep, The Last Days of Peter Bergmann), Katie Holly (Sensation, One Hundred Mornings, Citadel) and Andrew Freedman (His and Hers, The Herd, Return to Roscoff).
