DCC Health buys Welsh firm for E55m

Tuesday, June 03 14:54:00

Irish diversified services group, DCC's Vital Healthcare unit has bought Welsh-based Williams Medical Holdings for Stg45m (E55m) in a cash deal.

Williams supplies medical and pharmaceutical products to GPs in Britain.

The British firm supplies own and third party branded products - medical equipment, consumables and pharmaceuticals - to a customer base of around 10,000 GP practices, as well as healthcare providers in the community care and domiciliary care sectors.

The business also provides a range of services including field based testing and calibration and repair and maintenance of equipment.

Williams has 165 employees and, in the financial year to July 31 2013, recorded an adjusted operating profit of 6m.

DCC Vital is building a substantial business focused on sales and distribution of own and third party pharmaceuticals and medical devices across all channels to the healthcare market.

The acquisition of Williams, with its market leading position in primary care and developing positions in community care and domiciliary care, means that DCC Vital now has the most comprehensive sales and distribution network in the British and Irish healthcare markets.
