Datalex, the Irish provider of ecommerce and retail solutions to the travel industry, is to open a new office in Beijing.
The announcement was made during the Enterprise Ireland Trade and Investment mission to China, led by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD.
Aidan Brogan, Chief Executive Officer of Datalex said that a permanent local presence in China is an important step in our market strategy as the world's leading provider of airline ecommerce and merchandising solutions.
"Chinese airlines continue to lead by every industry growth metric including double digit growth in passenger demand each year. China is a very exciting market to be part of and an important step for Datalex in support of our existing customers such as Air China and development of new business. I am particularly proud of the calibre and seniority of our Chinese team which bring a wealth of aviation and ecommerce expertise both from China and across the globe," he added.
China is among the fastest growing aviation markets globally. IATA (the International Air Transport Association) reports that China has one of the strongest performing domestic markets in the world, with domestic air travel having expanded in the country by 11.7pc in 2013. The Association estimates that passenger volumes in China will have increased by 193 million by 2016 over the preceding 5 years. This is equivalent to over 23pc of the estimated global increase in passenger numbers over the same period.
