Russia today imposed a ban on certain foods from some EU countries as it retaliated against sanctions over the Kremlin's support for Ukraine's rebels.
Figures from Bord Bia show that Irish food and drink exports to Russia in 2013 amounted to E232m and were dominated by exports of prepared foods, valued at E112.8m.
Irish beef exports to Russia were worth E3.27m last year, while dairy exports were worth E17.8m.
Russia's President Vladimir Putin signed a decree banning or limiting imports of agricultural products from countries which have imposed sanctions on Russia, the Kremlin's press service said today.
Putin ordered his government to come up with a list of goods to be banned for imports into Russia and to last one year, the Kremlin said.
