Digital leaders for West Cork's OFFSITE

Monday, August 11 10:55:34

Next month influential business leaders will convene in West Cork to talk 'digital' at the third annual OFFSITE event organised by the West Cork Development Partnership (WCDP).

The event aims to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship in West Cork. This year the conference, which is taking place at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery on 29 September, will focus on digital innovation in businesses across all sectors including tourism and agri-business.

Recent research carried out by Forrester has found that more than 70pc of companies on the Global 500 list 10 years ago have vanished - unable to adapt.

"West Cork is a hub for business and entrepreneurship and at the WCDP we aim to develop that reputation even further with the third annual OFFSITE event which has been developed to encourage, drive and support the growing business and tech community of West Cork," said David Tuohy, OFFSITE Project Lead at West Cork Development Partnership.

"This year we have a really strong line-up of speakers who understand the importance of integrating digital into business strategies," he added.

The event will include panel discussions and presentations from some of the most successful businessmen and women in Ireland including Joanne Casey of Glometrics, who will give insights into effective strategies for Google Adwords; Newsweaver's denise cox will discuss the power of email marketing while Aoife Rigney will breakdown social media for businesses.

The event will also have speakers from international and indigenous digital enterprises including Fabien Peyaud, co-founder of Herdwatch, the cloud-based 'mobile CRM for cows' and Pat Phelan of Trustev the hugely successful online fraud protection service startup which was named "hottest global start-ups of 2013" by Forbes magazine.

Julia Lynes, Director of EazyCity will cover hospitality and tourism and talk about making your business model work nationally and then internationally.
