Wednesday, August 27 16:28:19

Over half, 55pc, of attendees at September's Career Zoo - Ireland's keynote professional careers event - will be seeking career opportunities in the country's flourishing tech sector.

Career Zoo will take place on Saturday September 13 in the Convention Centre, Dublin. During the one day event, some of the world's most innovative companies and institutes will meet with thousands of Ireland's finest talent, in a bid to fill thousands of high-tech employment opportunities on offer.

Attending companies include major multinationals such as Salesforce.com, Liberty IT, Amgen, Johnson and Johnson, DropBox, Ericsson, Accenture, Fidelity Investments and Pramerica as well as Ireland's leading businesses such as Version 1 and Bank of Ireland.

Also participating at Career Zoo will be leading organisations and educational institutes such as Science Foundation Ireland, The Irish Research Council, NDRC, TCD and The Open University.

Launching the Career Zoo September 2014 event, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, said: "At the centre of the Government's Action Plan for Jobs is providing support to the dynamic sectors of the economy that can drive the growth we need. As yesterday's figures confirm, a real jobs recovery is underway, with 70,000 additional jobs created over the past two years, but we have a long way to go. Events like Career Zoo have a major role to play in helping to bring together people looking for new jobs with the employers who need them. I wish all at Career Zoo all the best for yet another successful event".

Director at Career Zoo, Brian O hOisin, said "Bringing talent and opportunity together has always been a challenge, especially over the past few years. Our aim is to overcome that challenge and give Ireland's talent pool of graduates and professionals alike, the chance to meet these innovative companies. Indigenous and multinational organisations from various sectors have thousands of positions to offer across tech, finance, sales, H.R. and marketing to name a few."

"Now in our eighth event, Career Zoo will see the return of the highly successful 'Tech Town', a dedicated space that showcases the growing Irish tech sector and the unique employment opportunities that are on offer. From our February event, we found that 55pc of attendees were seeking opportunities in the tech sector, making Tech Town a key focus for September's Career Zoo." For more visit: www.businessworld.ie
