Pre-tax profits at ferry operator, Irish Continental Group (ICG) fell to E2.7m in the first half of the year to the end of June compared to E3.3m in the same period a year ago.
This is despite a rise in revenues to E130.7m compared to E120.9m the year before and as it introduced its new vessel Epsilon.
The company carried almost 151,000 cars during the period - up 5.9pc - and 683,800 passengers.
Roll-on, roll-off freight volumes were significantly higher at 118,100, up 18.5pc.
The company said this growth had continued into the early stages of the second half of the year.
