Jameson marks 25th year of growth

Jameson Irish Whiskey's sales volumes reached 4.7 million cases for Irish Distillers' full year 2013/2014, marking 25 successive years of sales growth for the iconic brand.

Jameson volume growth was 9pc for the year and value growth was an impressive 12pc.

In its biggest market, the USA, Jameson's commanding sales performance continued to grow with 9pc volume sales rise.

The brand also reported growth across its other major markets South Africa (8pc volume) and Russia (4pc volume).

IMPACT Magazine, a key publication for the global spirits industry, ranks Jameson 17th in its top global brands, up a further 2 places since last year, and confirming its strong and consistent progress among the world's elite brands.

At home on the Irish market, there was less to celebrate with the total spirits market down by 11.5pc, according to Nielsen. Irish Distillers said the continued decline in the on-trade (-6pc volume for spirits) and off-trade (-13.9pc volume for spirits) combined with the October 2013 excise increase (15.5pc on spirits) has had a hugely negative impact on the spirits industry in Ireland and the Irish Distillers portfolio of spirits reflected this trend.

Commenting on the performance of Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard for the FY 13/14, Anna Malmhake, Chairman and CEO said: "The sustained progress of Jameson within the Pernod Ricard family of brands has been one of the group's most eminent success stories, growing from 466,000 cases when Irish Distillers joined Pernod Ricard in 1988, to approaching 5 million cases in 2014. Jameson is the No.1 selling Irish whiskey in the world, an Irish export story we should be truly proud of. In addition reaching No.17 in the International Spirits Brands Globally (Impact Ranking Feb 2014) is a prominent achievement in another successful year for Jameson."

Jameson continues to invest in film as its core sponsorship platform. 2013 saw the launch of the 3rd year of First Shot - Jameson's major co-operation with actor Kevin Spacey and his production company Trigger Street Productions.
