Cider and beer group, C and C, today said it has completed its merger with drinks wholesaler, Gleeson Group, creating C and C Gleeson, which, it says, will be a major force in the industry.
The company said it will remain committed to its historic home in Tipperary, while plans are also in place for the construction of a craft brewery at the Bulmers plant in Clonmel.
Stephen Meleady, commercial director, believes the deal will make the company Ireland's number one wholesaler and the drinks supplier of choice.
"With our combined infrastructure now in place, our geographical footprint on the island of Ireland will be unmatched, with access to over 7,000 on-trade premises from a potential market of almost 10,000 outlets," he said.
"Acquiring the country's leading drinks distribution and wholesale businesses was the next logical step for C and C, as we continue the growth of the business through a combination of organic expansion and strategic acquisitions."
