The numbers of people signing on the Live Register fell again last month, recording a drop of 2,900 and bringing the standardised unemployment rate to 11.2pc, down from 11.3pc in July.
The seasonally adjusted unemployed total fell to 380,100 in August, latest CSO figures show.
In unadjusted terms there were 398,325 people signing on the Live Register in August 2014, representing an annual decrease of 36,955 (-8.5pc).
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate from the most recent Quarterly National Household Survey (QNHS) was 11.5pc in the second quarter of 2014.
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register showed a monthly decrease of 2,300 males in August 2014, while females decreased by 700 over the same period.
The number of male claimants decreased by 28,381 (-10.7pc) to 238,062 in the year to August 2014, while female claimants decreased by 8,574 (-5.1pc) to 160,263. This compares with a decrease of 20,182 (-7.0pc) to 266,443 for males, while female claimants showed a decrease of 794 (-0.5pc) to 168,837 in the year to August 2013.
