Aer Lingus, including Aer Lingus Regional, passenger numbers rose by 7pc in August compared to the same month a year ago to 1.205 million, the airline said this morning.
Short haul traffic increased by 3.3pc to 913,000 passengers, up from 884,000 in the same month last year.
The increase in Aer Lingus transatlantic passengers continued during August with 148,000 long haul passengers representing an increase of 22.3pc from 121,000 in 2013.
The overall passenger load factor, an industry-wide measure of how well airlines fill their aircraft, for the month was up 1.2 percentage points to 87.8pc.
The short haul passenger load factor increased to 83.5pc from 82.1pc in August 2013, whilst the long haul load factor was 94.1pc compared to 94.9pc in August the previous year.
