Deliveroo also launched its services in Galway city today, securing its third Irish hub.

The Galway launch follows Deliveroo’s successful roll out to Dublin and Cork, and is part of the company’s rapid international expansion phase. Deliveroo’s investors include Irish entrepreneurs, such as Dylan Collins of Hoxton Ventures.

Currently, Deliveroo has embarked on recruiting 30 drivers for its Galway hub, with ten of Galway City’s top restaurants already signed up to deliver meals through Deliveroo’s home-delivery service, including; McCambridges, Hooked, Creole and The Dough Bros.

Deliveroo launched in 2013 in London. Unlike the majority of food delivery businesses that are purely online marketplaces for takeaway restaurants, Deliveroo partners with premium restaurants that don’t typically provide delivery, offering its customers a range of new choices.

Customers quickly and easily order meals, which are delivered by Deliveroo’s team of drivers and cyclists in an average of 30 minutes. The service is powered by Deliveroo’s proprietary technology and logistics platform.

The company also announced today that it has launched in five new cities, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Melbourne and Sydney marking its first foray outside Europe.

The company has also raised a $100 million Series D investment, enabling Deliveroo to feed increasing consumer demand and fuel further international expansion.

Over 5,000 restaurants are currently delivering through the platform worldwide.

General Manager of Ireland, Oliver Dewhurst said, "This funding represents a major milestone in our International expansion - the Irish business is experiencing phenomenal growth in Dublin and Cork and we’re excited to add Galway to the list of cities our service is now live in with more to come in the near future."
