It was announced today that €12,000 has been raised by staff of ESB International for charity with the proceeds going to causes nominated by the staff themselves.

The money was raised through a range of staff functions that were hosted by ESB International. In total, twenty different charities will receive a donation – all of them nominated by participating staff.

Charities to benefit include Brother Kevin’s Capuchin Day Centre, Pieta House, Women’s Aid, St. Francis Hospice and the Peter McVerry Trust.

Speaking at the handing over of cheques to the various charities, Brother Kevin Crowley from the Capuchin Day Centre commented, "Poverty is an issue that affects more and more people in Ireland each year and it is gratifying to see ordinary people play their part in helping to resolve the problem."
