The new nutraceutical facility at Mervue Laboratories was officially opened in Cork yesterday by the Minister for Agriculture, Food, the Marine and Defence, Simon Coveney.

Mervue Laboratories, which exports to over 50 countries world-wide, is the nutritional products division of parent company, Inform Nutrition Ireland, which was established in Whitescross, Cork in 1986.

According to the Commercial Director at Mervue Laboratories, William Twomey, the announcement further advances the company’s reputation as a world leader in the nutraceutical sector.

Twomey claimed, "The expansion of Mervue Laboratories Ireland and the addition of new high-skill jobs is great news for Cork and indeed for Ireland. Our main success and expansion are due to responding to our customer needs in our international markets.

Our company ethos has always been a collaborative process with our customers around the world. We recognise that working together we can make world leading products.”

The stage 1 investment of €2 million will see the creation of 25 full-time jobs over three years where recruitment will be among BSC, Science and Veterinary backgrounds. This will take the company’s total full-time employment to over 75 people by 2017. With a further stage 2 investment of €2 million to begin in January 2017.
