The Oireachtas Banking Inquiry plans to finish it's public hearings on schedule on September 10th and will then begin the process of preparations for its final report.

Speaking yesterday, Chairman Ciaran Lynch said, "We are now entering the final stages of our public hearings and will start an integrated process for all clarifications, amendments and updates and creation of completed evidence books for publication and use in our final report.

Final witness clarification statements may be sought by the Committee through August and September."

He concluded, "While we are on course to complete our public hearings on schedule, the completion date for the publication of our final report may require adjustment as a result of the review.

We are taking a proactive approach to dealing with this potential adjustment and, when the independent review is completed, the Committee will take stock of the situation and decide on any changes that may arise in relation to the timing of the publication of our report."
