New research published today has found that the average salary package for a Chartered Accountant in Leinster has risen by 9% in the last year to €109,756.

This follows a 13% rise in 2015, showing increasing demand for Chartered Accountants at all levels. The survey of 1,100 Chartered Accountants was carried out by Chartered Accountants Leinster Society in association with The Panel search and selection consultancy.

The research reveals that 75% of Chartered Accountants have seen their salary increase by at least 10% over the last three years.

The average salary package for a Chartered Accountant working in industry in their first year post-qualification now stands at €56,800. For those working in financial services in their first year post-qualification the average package rises to €58,100.

Furthermore, as well as rising salaries, the survey indicates a healthy level of career progression within the Chartered Accountancy profession with 41% of those surveyed having been promoted in the last three years. This was down slightly from 49% for the same period in 2015.

The salary survey also shows that most Chartered Accountants in Leinster currently work in industry, business and financial services with 76% working in these sectors while 24% work in an accountancy practice.

Paul McArdle, Managing Partner of The Panel, who assisted in analysing the survey results says, "We know that employers are keen to hold on to their key people. Three quarters of our survey respondents have seen their salary increase by more than 10% in the last three years. Businesses and firms value the skills of Chartered Accountants highly and are willing to negotiate to retain that talent."
