The latest figures from Vision Net show that 3,094 company and business start-ups were formed in August, an average of 114 a day.
It is estimated that company start-ups increased by 22%, accompanied by a 34% increase in business registrations. The data shows that professional services, social and personal services, and wholesale and retail were the three most popular industries for new start-ups.
In particular, the social and personal services industry saw 74% growth year-on-year, from 84 to 146.
Dublin, Cork and Limerick were the three most popular locations for new business. Approximately 641 new company start-ups were formed in Dublin in August, followed by 129 in Cork.
Managing Director of Vision-net.ie, Christine Cullen commented, "Last month, new company and business start-up growth showed no sign of slowing. It is especially encouraging to see the manufacturing and transport and logistics industries continue to develop.
"Growth in these sectors is indicative of economic recovery beginning to spread out to wider areas of the economy."
