Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) today welcomed Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney TD, to officially open its Dublin office. Subject to regulatory approval, the office will be one of ASI’s key European Union business hubs, responsible for the contracting of investment management services in Europe and for ASI’s network of eight branch offices across the continent.

The Minister was joined by Martin Gilbert, co-Chief Executive of ASI and Victoria Brown, Managing Director of Aberdeen Standard Investments Ireland Limited. The Dublin-based hub will complement ASI’s Luxembourg operation which oversees 100 funds that are marketed across Europe and in many parts of Asia and the Americas.

ASI manages over €100 billion on behalf of customers and clients based in Europe ex-UK. ASI manages around €7.5 billion on behalf of a wide range of Irish clients, including those of Standard Life International, which is now owned by ASI's strategic partner Phoenix Group. It has been managing money for Irish clients since 1834.

Today, ASI is hosting its 15th annual investment conference for clients which is expected to attract over 300 people. The agenda includes a panel session on global economic and political developments and presentations on investing in multi-asset portfolios, smaller companies and property.

Speaking today, Simon Coveney said, "Aberdeen Standard Investments decision to open a new Irish office is very welcome. Their commitment to their Irish client base and their new office is a sign of the continued strength of the Irish economy and the financial services industry here. It was a pleasure to welcome co-CEO Martin Gilbert to Dublin today."

Martin Gilbert added, "I'm delighted that Mr Coveney could join us to officially open our Dublin office. It is a key business hub for us overseeing our network of offices across continental Europe. We have been managing money for clients in Ireland for over 180 years and it is a market where we believe we can continue to grow by helping local institutional and retail investors meet their long-term financial goals."
