Gradireland has today released Ireland’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers 2019/20, a publication which reveals which companies Irish students want to work for. The results are based on Ireland’s largest student survey, which gathered the views of over 13,500 students.

For the fourth year out of the last five, Google heads the list as the most attractive employer for today’s students. It is one of four tech companies in the top ten, with Apple (3rd), Microsoft (8th) and Amazon (9th) all very popular amongst students, as is Facebook in 11th place.

Major professional services firms such as KPMG (2nd), PwC (5th) and Deloitte (7th) also make the top ten, as do pharma giants Pfizer (4th), Boston Scientific (6th) and Johnson & Johnson (10th).

Jameson-Irish Distillers is the leading Irish firm, in 13th position, with the Department of Education and Teaching leading the public sector choice in 12th position. Other major Irish organisations in the top 50 include Aer Lingus (15th), Bank of Ireland (21st), Penneys (27th), Kerry Group (29th), Enterprise Ireland (30th), HSE (31st) and ESB (39th).

The research reveals that 81% of employers plan to either maintain or increase their graduate recruitment levels. The strategic focus of firms on graduate recruitment is evident, with almost half of all firms expecting to face challenges in terms of recruiting the graduates they need. This is good news for graduates, with the average graduate salary breaking through the €30k mark, standing at €30,409.

Speaking about the announcement of the results, gradireland Managing Director, Gavan O’Brien said, "Each year the Ireland’s 100 list provides us with an invaluable snapshot of the trends in the graduate recruitment landscape, showing how important employer branding and brand perception is amongst students when it comes to them selecting which company they would like to work with. Conducted by our research partners Trendence, we canvass the views of over 13,500 students from 27 universities throughout the island of Ireland, both north and south. It’s always insightful to see the movement of various companies in the list from year to year and how this links in with how they market their company, their values and what it is a graduate would actually do within their company."
