Irish construction activity was strong in February

The latest Irish construction PMI has been released for February. It shows that the overall index has come in at 57.9 up from 55.7 in January and points to continued robust activity in the Irish construction market.

Within the various segments, residential is the area of greatest strength with a reading of 63.3 (59.1 in January). The commercial segment increased from 56.5 in January to 58.9 for February while the civil engineering also increased to 48.9 (from 47.8 in January).
 
According to Goodbody Stockbrokers, "Overall, it is clear the recovery in Irish construction sector is set to continue apace. Within our coverage the company with the largest exposure is Grafton Group with 22% of sales in the region. Indeed, we believe this one of a number of differentiating factors that underpins Grafton as our top pick in the merchanting sector."
