It was announced today that the 42nd staging of the Dublin Economics Workshop (DEW) will take place on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of September in Clayton Whites Hotel in Wexford.

A string of notable names have already been confirmed for this year’s DEW, which is supported by Dublin Chamber of Commerce, including Robert Watt, Secretary General, Department of Public Expenditure & Reform, who will provide an opening keynote address on the Friday afternoon.

Other speakers on the bill include Sharon Donnery, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, who will take part in a session on the vulnerabilities of Ireland as a small nation in an ever-changing world. To close the first day of the conference, Dan O’Brien, Chief Economist with the Institute of International and European Affairs, will offer his take on the latest Brexit developments.

The second day of the conference will see the focus switch to housing, jobs, healthcare and the environment. The afternoon session on Saturday will see John Moran of the Land Development Agency, Derek Rafferty from the Department of Housing and Aideen Hayden, Chair of the housing charity Threshold, will contemplate how Ireland gets to grips with meeting its long-term housing needs.
