Airbnb are today calling on Irish households to consider hosting on the platform this summer.
This comes after latest figures from the company show that between April 2015/2016 inbound visits to Ireland with Airbnb increased by almost 200% (187%).
Airbnb is highlighting the benefits that hosting can bring and is inviting households to join the community of thousands of Irish people that are already sharing their home and earning an average of €2,600 per year.
The largest ever gathering of existing Irish hosts will take place tomorrow. It will be held in Airbnb’s new Irish offices at the Dublin Warehouse, Hanover Quay and over 250 people have booked to attend with a webinar making the content available to thousands of hosts across Ireland.
Dublin is the most popular destination for Airbnb guests coming to Ireland, with Dublin hosts welcoming over 240,000 guests to the city within the past year.
Global Head of Customer Experience of Airbnb, Aisling Hassell says, "The average Irish host earns €2,600 a year, which can go a long way to paying for a summer holiday and make a difference to family’s finances."
She added, "Setting up as a host only takes a few minutes and new hosts could have their first booking within days. Tourism Ireland has significant growth projection of up to 10m visitors annually by 2025 so there is huge potential for people in Ireland."
