Aldi has further increased its presence in Co. Cork with the opening of its latest store in Skibbereen. A total of 20 new jobs have been created at the new store.
The new Skibbereen store is Aldi’s 21st store in Cork. This brings the total number of Aldi stores in Ireland to 127. The first Aldi store in Ireland opened in November 1999.
In the last five years, Aldi has recruited over 70 new Irish suppliers, meaning Aldi now partners with more than 175 Irish producers. Over 50% of Aldi’s supplier spend is now with Irish suppliers, producers and manufacturers.
To celebrate the opening of the new store in Skibbereen, Aldi served up tasty treats throughout the day. All samples were prepared using Aldi products, many of which are sourced from Irish suppliers.
The day was filled with family fun and festivities with the RedFM team on site playing music and entertainers providing face painting for the kids. There was also loads of spot prizes won, with one lucky customer scooping two tickets to the upcoming Ireland vs New Zealand rugby match.
Speaking at the store opening, Manager of Aldi’s new Skibbereen store, Peter Mullins said, "We are delighted to open our new Skibbereen store and look forward to welcoming many new customers from the local area. Aldi has grown in popularity across Ireland in recent years and we are pleased to make the quality, value and variety of our product ranges available to more people throughout Co. Cork."
